9/11 Remembrance Day
Many of us still remember the horror of the day's events 17 years ago today. It is a day that looms forever in our consciousness, one that beckons us to unite, both as New Yorkers and Americans, and pay tribute to the 2,977 souls that fell victim to America's deadliest terrorist attack.
A moment of silence is observed to correspond with the attacks, beginning at 8:46 a.m. (Eastern Daylight Time), the time the first plane, American Airlines Flight 11, struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.
