Seniors Can Call Lyft for Ride to Doctor

Rideshare company Lyft has just gone public, and is building relationships with healthcare providers to assist seniors who need rides to medical appointments, pharmacies and rehab centers.

Partnering with Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) and Humana Inc. to further capitalize on the expanded supplemental benefits offered under the Medicare Advantage (MA) program, which includes transportation services, Lyft is focused on growing the health care part of its business. The company aims to expand partnerships with other home care providers across the country with the goal of improving health outcomes, decreasing costs for patients, payers, and the government, and to combat social isolation.

To accommodate those without smartphones, Lyft has introduced a concierge product, which allows providers and living facilities to request rides for seniors along with automated calls to landlines for riders that need it, so they can be made aware of their ride details.

Ask your healthcare provider how you can take advantage of this new ride benefit.
