Plant a Tree, It's Tu BiShvat

Known as the Jewish New Year for trees, the Tu BiShvat holiday begins at sunset tonight, marking the season for the earliest blooming trees in Israel to awaken from winter sleep to begin to bear fruit. Often celebrated by eating fruit from the Holy Land, such as olives, dates, grapes, figs and pomegranates, the custom of planting a tree is also observed by many.

For those who live in urban settings with no grounds to grow a tree, The Jewish National Fund is sponsoring a chance to win a trip to Israel if you plant a tree in Israel between Jan. 15th and Feb. 15th, 2018.
